A well priced PC drawing tablet that’s ideal for digital artists

The Adesso PC drawing tablet and the once named Aiptek drawing tablet are pretty much one in the same. Targeted at digital artists as well as the general computer user, these PC drawing tablets are just branded slightly differently. For the price, it’s the best computer drawing tablet in it’s price range, simply due to the following 3 simple reasons
- It’s cheap compared with many other models
- It has a large usable size
- The drawing tablets performance, for it’s price, is very high.
If you want to try a PC Drawing Tablet before you decide to take the plunge on a more expensive model (if you need to that is), then you can’t go far wrong with the Adesso CyberTablet M14 Graphics Tablet . The size and working area is great for almost all applications and I found this fine for all my digital painting needs.
The drawing tablet itself is sturdy and does the job but lacks some of the build quality of the Wacom graphics tablet range. The surface of the tablet does mark but to this day has not give me any trouble, and for the price you can’t really complain.
The PC drawing tablet – base

The drawing tablet itself has a 9” x 5 1/2” active area giving the user the working space for sketching, editing, painting, illustration work and general computer activities and is connected to your system via a USB connection. This connection wire is over three feet long so plenty long enough for most users.
Two rolling pads along the top and 5 hot keys, support both right and left-hand users for quick zooming in and out, scrolling up & down or left & right. When working, I find the ability to zoom in and out using the wheels a great time saver and as a digital artist, its always good to see your digital art at different sizes.
The unit itself is sturdy and does the job but lacks some of the build quality of the Wacom range. The surface of the tablet does mark but is very durable and to this day does not give me any trouble and for the price you can’t really complain.
The drawing tablet pen / stylus
The wireless tablet pen feels easy to both hold and use for drawing, painting, handwriting and general computer use, for both short and long periods of time. The pen iteself does have a plastic feel to it, unlike some other more expensive brands but in this price band this is to be expected.
The tablet pen is cordless which really helps with providing the freedom and ease of use artists, designers, illustrators and general computer users need, especially if using your system for long periods of time. As the pen is wireless it requires a small battery that sits inside the pen and is easily installed by removing the pen cover.
The pen, combined with the drawing tablet itself still offers a fantastic way of working at an affordable price.
Sensitivity of the Adesso PC Drawing tablet
Using the Adesso PC Drawing Tablet I really did find it very much like using traditional materials like pen and paint brush. The sensitivity of up to 4000 lpi resolution and 1024 levels pen pressure meant that I can sketch away with complete freedom just ike in my traditional painting and I was genuinely surprised for the cost bracket this graphic tablet falls into.
I found the dual mode active area for PC and Notebook with either Widescreen (16:10) or Standard screen (4:3) monitors a nice touch and can use the Adesso drawing tablet on various computers and monitor set ups, combined with up to 4000 lpi resolution, the 1024 levels pen pressure provides great graphics performance for professional design, drawing and painting.

I was looking for a tablet that wouldn’t cost me my soul but would also function the way I need it to. I was a little apprehensive of how well this tablet would actually work with a Mac, but once I plugged it in and updated the driver I was really impressed. I have been practicing digital art for a little over a year now. This is the second Adesso Tablet I’ve purchased. I started with their cybertablet 12000 which works fairly well, but wanted to upgrade.

Good points about the Adesso CyberTablet M14 PC Drawing Tablet
- Value for money, considering the specification, which is comparible to many other drawigng tablets on the market.
- Lightweight and easy to use
- Good specification for the price bracket
- Large workable area
- Can be used on wide screen monitors as well as standard monitors
Poor points Adesso CyberTablet M14 Drawing Tablet
- It appears that Adesso support can be lacking
- Build quality is not as good as leading graphics tablets, but for the price bracket and functionality of the tablet this is to be expected
- Surface of the drawing tablet can mark as with other drawing tablets and I have found this during its use but this has not hampered our use of the drawing tablet
- The drawing tablet can go into sleep mode fairly quickly when compared to others on the market. This in itself is not a problem as you easily awaken the drawing tablet by simply tapping the surface of the pad, but looking at feedback on the tablet this has been raised as an issue. As a user of the drawing tablet, I have not fond this a problem at all.
Conclusion
The Adesso PC Drawing Tablet has, is a great drawing tablet for a PC and still serves me well, with great sensitivity and performance at a price that will not break the bank. If you are looking to move away from you mouse to a more inttuative device, or as an artists looking to move into a digital work flow you will have a great place to start witH the Adesso CyberTablet M14 Graphics Tablet.
As already mentioned, if there are 3 points you should consider regards the Adesso PC drawing tablet they are…
- It’s cheap compared with many other models
- It’s a great size
- The drawing tablets performance, for it’s price, is very high.
